ANNUAL OPEN STUDIO EVENT
This event has been modeled after the traditional "Open Studio" events that have taken place throughout the Bay Area for many years. It enables serious minded artists to join in, without prerequisite of being juried or limited in their choice of expression, style or approach.
Ruby Newman has been holding an annual independent open studio event in mid October since 2002. Collectors, clients and the general public are invited to visit the studio and view the most recent works created. Limited edition prints and original works are on sale at studio prices during this event. In 2008, Newman invited eight other talented artists to show their work as well which included, pastels, collage, oils and watercolors. Also exhibiting were Janet Sedacca's Timeless Jewelry Creations.
2009 was the Official first Annual Petaluma Independent Open Studio Event
In 2009 , Newman spearheaded the first Annual Independent Petaluma Open Studio Event. It featured over 28 Petaluma/Penngrove Artists. Newman created the website and with the help of Laurie Szujewska, produced a four color brochure to promote the event.
